These noticeable degradations are registered as bugs in YouTrack since end of 2022, so far not a single fix appeared. Joking aside, the current situation is really awful, and all solutions coming from Jetbrains are either "don't use this and that module" "downgrade to a version that works" or "change this and that setting and hope it works then". (In winter it was quite ok, if you coded for a longer time you could almost use the PC as a heater). Just editing a string leads to 100% CPU usage and constant lags. I'm wondering if there is a setting somewhere to increase "Java heap space"? I'm not a java dev so I don't have java installed on my PC or registered in my PATH. Not sure if this subreddit or the official forum will be more helpful, but I'm getting an error that is preventing me from updating to 2023.1.1.
